The Call For Better Work Is Catching On

bridal

I came across a very provocative post the other day, An Open Letter To A Local Photographer by David Jackson, on Seshu’s Tiffinbox.  Wow, the comments ranged from angry to appreciative.  Perhaps some readers didn’t get through enough of the post to get its main (albeit, somewhat abrasively presented) message.  But, I think what Jackson [...]

Noticing The Art Around You

Flatiron Building, NYC

There’s an American Express commercial that contains the line, “Life leaves plenty of spaces for you to create in.”  In the ad spot named, “Blank Canvases,” you can see the top of an undecorated sheet cake, an Etch A Sketch, and other surfaces and environments that are waiting to be filled-in by some creative human [...]

Proud To Be An Amateur (at Heart)

Me, as seen and photographed by my wife, Dedra. She's loves to take pictures, too. She's 100% amateur, and proud of it.

For anyone who’s fallen in love with photography, it’s natural to look for opportunities to learn more, shoot more, and share more. We aspire to take better pictures than we currently do. We look up to the professionals who’ve managed making a career out of making beautiful pictures. And many of us at some point [...]

Behind-The-Scenes: Photo Shoot With Satu

satu-1

A stylized behind-the-scenes video of a shoot I did the other day with Satu.   Results are at the end of the clip.  Simple equipment including a couple of flash units and a 50mm lens.  The idea for this series was to use some harsh and lower angled light for a raw look.
